Akyedie ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using our platform, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
When you buy a gift card: your name, email address, phone number (optional), and payment details (processed by Paystack — we never store raw card numbers).
When you create an account: your name, email, and a hashed password. We never store your password in plaintext.
When you redeem a card: the transaction amount, vendor, and timestamp. We do not collect biometric or location data.
Automatically: IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, collected for security and analytics purposes.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To process your gift card purchase and deliver the card code.
- To send transaction confirmations and support communications.
- To prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
- To improve our platform through anonymised analytics.
- To send service-related emails (e.g., expiry reminders). You can opt out at any time.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Gift Card Codes
Gift card codes are sensitive. We store only a cryptographic hash of your code — not the code itself. This means we cannot recover your code if it is lost. Treat your code like cash.
5. Data Sharing
We share personal information only with:
- Paystack — to process payments. Governed by Paystack's own privacy policy.
- Email and SMS providers (Resend/Mailgun, Hubtel/Arkesel) — solely to deliver your card code and notifications.
- Partner vendors — only the last four characters of your card code and transaction amount at the point of redemption.
- Legal authorities — when required by Ghanaian law.
6. Data Retention
We retain your transaction records for a minimum of five years for legal and financial compliance. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data at any time, subject to legal retention obligations.
7. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption, hashed passwords, hashed card codes, and rate-limited access. However, no system is perfectly secure. If you suspect unauthorised access, contact us immediately at security@akyedieapp.com.
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal obligations).
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time.

9. Cookies
We use essential session cookies to keep you logged in and protect against CSRF attacks. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Your session data is stored securely on our servers.
10. Children
Our platform is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with their information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. The revised date at the top of this page always reflects the latest version.
